ALCOHOL IS NOT WHAT IT SEEMS
Announcements were made
Information passing round and round
Our normal calm class was rowdy filled with people hyped to
the core
People were talking about it so much
Everyone was getting invited
People were booking slots and learning dance moves to display
and so on
Then on my own part, am so lost on what was happening so I
quickly had to make findings
I walked to someone in another department
I had to make a proper choice so I picked an engineering
student
They always had all the gist inside their heads
I then asked what was happening that is making the school so
rowdy and active.
Before I could complete my statement, he hit me quite hard at
my back and said "So you dunno, where you de for this life"
I replied "Then you explain" with anxiety on my
face.
He then brought out his phone to make each detail easy for
me to understand
I saw drinks stacked up, both soft and alcoholics and highly
alcoholics.
He said today is the greatest party to be held and that lots
of fun would be on ground
There would be games and food and cake
He even went as far as to state that he would find his
future wife there.
"The gbedu go de unstoppable" He continued
talking.
Then he said something that touched me a bit
There was a girl that I always tried to gain her attention
When I say I tried
Believe me I really tried
She is so beautiful and vested with so much knowledge that
leaves the best of our lecturers perplexed.
I tried to gain her attention academically and it didn't
work because I always fail every question asked.
Maybe educationally wasn't the way forward
I could get her attention during the party and show her the
man I am.
So I quickly made findings about the party and everything
and enrolled myself for the party.
It was an all night party and luckily for me I was sleeping
over in school that day.
I quickly began to learn my dance moves
Be it Zanku or Shaku or anything cool
She must see me today
In the twinkle of an eye evening dawned on me
And the party was being set up in no time
I went to night class with the motive to read but inside me
I knew that nothing was entering
Students were jumping up and down talking about the party
and trying their best to wield every single person to the Party.
There were two celebrants and they were shocked of the
massive turn up so they mobilized for extra items.
I purposely refused to go early so as not to look like a
glutton.
I wanted entering when the party was booming so I would be
in the spotlight.
Suddenly there was loud music that already made my veins
active and steaming with anxiety and heat.
I found three of my friends that were going there and I
joined them.
They had the same mindset with me and I believed that this
night would be a memorable night.
Of course it would be a memorable night but I didn't know in
what way it would.
We got inside the party and my facial expression was
absolutely priceless.
People were so much and I couldn't find the person I was to
impress
But who cares, Am here to enjoy the good life !!!!!
I would have gone home normal but my greed always leads me
to a rough path that I always find it hard to come out.
I was left out in the party and I couldn't make a scene so I
began to rant and asked where the drinks were located.
Then huge cups began to circulate with something inside it.
I assumed it was a normal drink and I awaited my turn.
The lady that was sharing was whispering that the cup
contained a highly catabolic mixture that must be shared with at least six
people.
But the music won't let me concentrate so the cup reached my
area and was handed over to me.
In the party spirit, I gulped half of the cup and didn't pass
it on.
My friend then hit me and said "Dat stuff no be for you
alone guy, pass am".
I asked why and he said that it's highly alcoholic.
I told him " Guy forget that thing, I can't get high at
all"
Then I drank the whole cup. People who saw me were
speechless to the very core and awaited the outcome.
On my side it was my first time of taking alcohol and I
believed there won't be an effect.
So I started dancing to ease the tension off.
I felt circular movements in my head but I let it go.
A guy rushed to me and held me before he whispered in my ear
"you de okay?"
I answered rudely "E be like say I mad or wetin"
and I pushed him.
Then I felt the wire connecting my head was cut.
I began to see irregular shapes and then people were
vanishing and appearing in different places.
A normal person would sit down and relax but I began to talk
and the speed in which words left my mouth was exceedingly fast than I could
fathom.
I was like "Bro, why you de fly"
"Why your clothes de floor"
"Why you de black in colour" amongst other stupid
utterances.
The signs of drunkenness was present but I refused to admit
it and I was still standing.
My close friends trying to hide it from others came to me
and whispered that I should be calm but I refused to admit the fact.
I can't fall my hands in this party so I decided to be quiet
and just have fun.
But one thing about alcohol is that
It begins very very mild before it unleashes the final shock
wave that will leave you shocked, broken and utterly useless.
I was experiencing the beginning stage that was why I could
resist with ease and even talk back.
So let me enjoy myself.
Then I saw her, the girl I was trying to impress. I knew
this night was going to be good.
So I quickly geared up and was ready to show her who rules
the dance floor.
I saw her vividly but I decided to act as though I didn't
see her.
The main DJ took his place and released some songs that
sparked a flame in me.
That was when "Able God" was a smash hit, as the
song began, everyone released their different style of Zanku and I won't carry
last in this dance.
I started dancing then alcohol took absolute control. I
began to hop and jump uncontrollably in zig-zag directions.
It wasn't obvious yet so I received a lot of applause and
cheers. The song changed to "Surrender" which drove me extra crazy.
I grabbed the nearest female to me and began wild dancing.
She began to scream for help because of my force and speed. Now the signs began
to manifest properly.
The music was brought to a halt for the celebrants to make
their opening speech and everywhere was dead silent.
But behold I was still dancing and chanting "I
surrender to your Ileke di". People began to face me and knew all was not
well.
Some muscular boys held me and told me to remain calm but I
was way to be high to be calmed down. I was pushed into a room where I was
still displaying insanity.
The speech was done and music came back on.
At this moment, alcohol took proper control over me and took
me to another realm.
The girl I was trying to impress came to me and told me to
be matured but at this moment I couldn't understand English or recognize
people.
I pushed her away and jumped into the dance floor in which I
fell several times before I could regain balance.
With an handkerchief in my palm I began to move like an
antelope while mumbling from my mouth.
People got scared of being injured and then gave me space,
now the whole party was focused on me instead of the celebrants.
I became an object of ridicule, they sent for more drinks
and gave me more to drink.
Everyone was screaming and hyping me to take
another sip and I took another cup.
At this point my insanity multiplied and my dance steps came
in a more wild manner.
Then I took off my shirt and began to swing it over my head
while dancing.
This continued for three straight hours and everyone dancing
with me got tired and were just staring.
The worst then happened
I began to jerk and swing from side to side then I fainted, falling
face flat into sand.
I began to convulse which was accompanied with screams and
vomit.
The celebrants began to ask who I came with and planned to
toss me outside.
By then my friends had left so I was a lone man.
After some seconds I sprung up again and continued dancing
without music and I was totally uncontrollable.
I advanced to the main road and began to twerk on the tarred
road. Boys were summoned to revive me but I was running with only shorts from
point to point.
I pulled all of my clothing and left only my boxers. I'm
imagining what would have taken place if I had pulled that.
I ran into bush paths, lots and lots of bushes before coming
to the final faint.
I was brought into the party arena with only undies and was
seen by everyone.
People took pictures and made videos but I was in another
realm to realise what was happening.
I was tossed into a room for people that switched off during
the party which we all slept till morning.
I woke up with no memory of the previous night and I felt serious
pains all over my body.
And the room was stuffy filled with strange people snoring
like prematured pigs.
The room was smelling badly and I was the only one awake.
I stood up feeling so weak and tired. I had to make
findings.
As I immediately opened the door to step outside I was
shocked with a long applause from bystanders outside the room.
They were saying "His Highness" !!!! "We
respect you"
They were laughing while I was receiving countless
handshakes and hailing.
Then my memories began to return bit by bit and I began to
realize what happened to me.
I took my bath and entered school and the strangest of
things began to unveil.
Anyone seeing me began to laugh and point fingers towards
me. I was the talk of the week, the new trend, the gossip on each lip.
It was bad to the core.
The stories haunted me for a very long period of time and
any upcoming party I get to be invited so as to show my usual acts and
exploits.
It marked the end of me trying to impress the girl.
She killed me in her own way, she went as far as to tell all
her roommates on how I lost control because of a teaspoon of alcohol.
I don't think I will ever look at an alcoholic bottle
talk-less of drinking it.
That's my stand till whenever.
Wonderful..
